Nice carnival also has a flower parade followed by a flower fight afterwards; it is best thought of as a horticultural version of Spain’s tomatina festival. Visitors travelling to south west France later in the year have the option of visiting the Monaco grand prix at the end of May, or of visiting in July for Bastille day, known in France as fete national.
